I Learned 9-8-11
Lifestyle

I learned that I don’t take nearly enough pictures of the girls together. Amber sent me an email asking for a photo of the two together from this quarter to use in our quarterly link up button (coming at the end of the month and we have some FANTASTIC prizes). As I was going through my photos I had so few of them together. I know I made it a point to always take pictures of just them by themselves. I didn’t want them growing up and having their siblings in every photo of them. However, I think now I need to make a conscious effort to actually get some of them together. Oops! So, I took this one this morning :O)

**Be sure to check back on Sunday because I will be having a huge giveaway with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes to celebrate Click it Up a Notch’s first year**

Now it’s your turn. What did you learn this week?? You know the old saying “You learn something new everyday!” Take pictures of it and share with us!! Some weeks you may learn a photography skill and want critiques. GREAT!! Share and ask for them! If you didn’t learn a new photography skill but something about yourself or life, that is great too! Post a picture and tell us what you learned. Can’t wait to see your pictures and find out what you learned!!

As always
1. Post one photo and tell us what you learned.
2. Link your permalink, not your blog address
3. Attach our button to your post
4. Ask for critiques if you want them and post your settings
5. Leave a comment on 5 other posts
6. Open Thursday 8am – Sunday 8am (Japan time) or Wednesday 6pm – Saturday 6pm (EST)

I noticed the same thing! I was trying to find a picture of the girls together from this month and I quickly realized I didn’t have any. From now on I will make sure to get some pictures of the girls together as well as them separate!

I learned landscape photography is very hard. I also learned my competitive streak extends to taking photos ..I’ve dedicated myself to getting at least one more-than-decent landscape shot. I am failing miserably thus far :)

I”m super competitive too :O) I like that idea of challenging yourself with a great landscape :O) You can do it!!

Congratulations, Tara! That photo is so precious. :)

I finally got my first dSLR last week when my husband got back from some training, so I’m finally learning some things first hand instead of just reading about them. My main lesson this week was about depth of field. I realized I have got to get myself a better lens than the kit one, but I did manage to sort of get what i wanted moving super close. I’d love any critiques anyone is willing to leave. I’m very new to this so I can use all the help and advice I can get! :)

Hey!! Yay! Congrats on your new camera!! Whoo hoo!! I just wanted to say if you want to add your link in the link up above then others will see it and be able to check out your work. Also, I accept photos to be critiqued once a week by everyone so if you ever want to submit a photo you can read more about it here.

Thank you! I’m not sure how I originally missed the “add link” button. :)

Ahhhh…..they look so cute and grown up. I know a photo you have of them that I like…..it’s BW and they are sitting on a seawall (at least I think that’s what it is). I think you shared it in your leading lines post.

Yes, I was thinking of that one too :O)

Lovely pic of the two of them together! What I’ve learned recently is that I miss taking pictures and that it’s hard getting back to work with a baby at home. I have a University Degree in studio arts and I did my specialization in Photography, but it’s been 5 almost 6 years since I’ve taken pictures for myself instead of just for trips. I’m really hoping to put aside some time to take them more regularly.

I hope you are able to find some time for you and your camera :O) Thanks for sharing!

I too struggle to get all 3 in a single image! Your girls are just precious!

    And congrats to Tara! :)

    What a sweet photo!

And I’ve popped over from CM’s… I’ve never seen this link up before… looks like fun!

  • September 8, 2011 at 10:57 PM

I just found your blog this week and wanted to pop in to let you know that I LOVE your blog. I just recently bought my first DSLR and am learning how to upgrade my skills along with my equipment, and your blog has been so helpful and inspiring. There are so many great tips and wonderful photos, I just can’t get enough of it. Hopefully I’ll be able to link to one of these eventually (as my skills improve!).

CONGRATULATIONS to Tara. It is a beautiful shot…

Oh, I missed the August contest…how precious is that winning shot?! I think I made the mistake you were trying to avoid…most of my pictures are of the boys together. Of course, I wasn’t into photography back then….Now, I’m waiting for grandkids : )

  • September 9, 2011 at 10:24 AM

You have beautiful girls. Def get more photos of them together…my sister and I love to laugh at them when we get together. They are priceless to have.

  • September 9, 2011 at 10:40 AM

I’ve been scanning through the site this morning and this page caught the eye of my four year old daughter. She made me stop and go back so she could see the picture again. “It’s really cute when they hug!”

    • June 27, 2012 at 10:28 PM

Ha! I love that you daughter loved the picture :O) Welcome!!
