I am still amazed at how quickly things change. I can’t believe Kate is 3.5 years and Emma will be 2 yrs in March. Everyone with kids has heard “They grow up so fast!” Isn’t that the truth? One of the things I love to photograph are the details of their childhood. Sometimes thats means objects in their lives but other times it is their small details. Even if you don’t have children you can see capture the details in your life. I think sometimes we get so busy trying to capture a great portrait that we forget to focus on the little things.

Details to capture:
– Hands
– Feet
– Eyelashes
– Toys
– Books
– Eyes
– Messes

Take some time this week to capture the little things you love about your loved ones.

Oh, I love the details, especially the picture of the eyelashes. So sweet and so true.

The lighting is great. I need to find better light in my house. It is so hard, because Florida sun is crazy bright.

BTW, I am planning to post the top 10 on Thursday, so pass the word. I posted a little announcement on my blog, so hopefully people will join in. I have not received all of the child photos and I don’t have internet access on my lap top (right now), so I may just make a simple one.

LOVE the third shot. Something so beautiful about the contrast of skin age.

I loved all the shots but I especially liked the picture of your daughter getting her nails painted by her Grandma. That is a great memory. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments on my blog Courtney! I love the feel of your blog and I really feel I can ask you anything. I have been reading about focusing and trying to nail my focus a bit better. I feel like I have an artistic eye and like you, I like to capture the details BUT I am not so good at getting them in focus!! Aggghh!!! I guess it will just take time and practise. Where can I post pics for you to critique or do you prefer to have them emailed? I love, love, love all of your pics in this post. Funny I have been taking quite a few of the toys strewn around too. I took quite a few of the kids feet which I used in my annual Shutterfly book. Love this post, keep it up!

You can either email me or post them in the “I Learned” each Thursday for more critiques than just mine! Can’t wait to see your photos!!

Great reminder to not overlook the “little” things (you know, the things I already miss about my older kids… but still have time to capture with my younger ones).

Thank you for the great ideas, looking do forward to my next visit with grand kids to try your tips out. Love taking pictures but very much a beginner, live it when I get that 1 special one if I am lucky once a year.
